KW Counselling Services is committed to creating caring communities through community-based programming. We offer several outreach services to respond to the needs of our diverse communities.
Community Outreach Program
KW Counselling’s five Family Outreach Workers work in six community centres: Centreville-Chicopee, Doon, Country Hills, Victoria Hills, Breithaupt and Mill Courtland to assist families with children under the age of 18 who are experiencing the effects of poverty.
Supporting Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning Youth (LGBTQ) and Families. OK2BME offers free, confidential services for LGBTQ youth ages 5-18 and their families.
Gay Straight Alliance Network
Reducing LGBTQ Stigma in Schools project focuses on establishing Gay-Straight Alliances (GSAs) in senior public schools (Grades 7-8) and K-8 schools within the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB).
Strengthing Our Communities
In May, 2012, KW Counselling Services launched “Strengthening Our Community,” a media campaign which features four positive actions parents and other caring adults can take to nurture the well-being of all children and teens in the Waterloo Region.
Money & Making It On Your Own
Finances offten keep women in abusive relationsips. Money and Making It On Your Own is a webbased curriculum that educates women about the resources and financial skills to pursue independence. It empowers women to gain conficence to enforce their rigthts and to make decision that are best for them and their children.
The importance of reaching out and welcoming Newcomers became ingrained in the principles of KW Counselling Service beginning in 1956, when Hungarian refugees settling in this community were supported through outreach activities.
KW Counselling Services and the KW Multicultural Centre work together with newcomers in a mutually beneficial relationship that serves to increases accessibility and cultural competence of our services.

Offers consultation, office and meeting space, administrative and infrastructure supports to multicultural groups aiding in their development and sustainability thereby enriching the community.
