Accreditation with CCA

Several years ago I followed my life-long dream of wanting to help people in the social service sector. During the pursuit of a MA in Psychotherapy, I interned at KW Counselling Services. After graduation, to my surprise they hired me and I have been here ever since helping individuals, couples, children and families find solutions to the concerns which brought them here. I am particularly moved by the difference the agency makes in the lives of children through programming for children, families and groups. I see this first-hand through a program I coordinate for children who have witnessed domestic violence (Strong Moms, Safe Kids).

In March 2014, drawing on my past experience in not-for-profit sector governance and management, I became KW Counselling Services’ Accreditation Coordinator. This position involved working closely with agency staff and the Board of Directors to ensure that the agency was meeting industry standards and providing responsive and quality services.

Today, I am pleased to announce, along with my colleagues, that KW Counselling Services is now an accredited organization with the Canadian Centre for Accreditation!


The Canadian Centre for Accreditation (CCA) is a national, not-for-profit organization offering accreditation specifically tailored to community-based health and social service organizations across Canada. CCA accredited organizations are committed to quality and continuous improvement in the work they do.

For KW Counselling Services, the accreditation process involved meeting or exceeding over 350 industry-based standards focused on the quality and efficiency of our programs and services.  We already had a culture of excellence prior to beginning the accreditation process. This made my work of strengthening our systems and processes, fostering an environment of continuous learning and integrating leading practices so much easier.

It was a pleasure to work with such a committed group of colleagues – staff, interns and volunteers – on this journey through the accreditation process. We can all be extremely pleased with this achievement and of the work that KW Counselling Services does every day in our community. By proudly displaying the CCA logo, we are letting all our stakeholders know that we are committed to service excellence and dedicated to seeking out best industry practices with the goal of continuous quality improvement of our programs and services.

We have come through the accreditation process as a recognized leader in the social service sector. We look forward to sharing what we’ve learned and our passion for excellence by offering our services as consultants to other agencies.
