KW Counselling Services has started using a secure, online platform called Greenspace to measure/learn about how people progress in their counselling. Research shows us that counselling outcomes are improved when clients measure their progress throughout the counselling process.
Breathe 2 Relax is an app created by the National Center for Telehealth & Technology, an agency of the Department of Defense in the United States. Though the app was originally designed for US military, veterans, and their families it is available for free on both IOS and Android.
Smiling Mind is a not-for-profit organisation from Australia that works to make mindfulness meditation available to all. Their Smiling Mind app has reached more than 1.5 million people worldwide. The app is available on both IOS and Android for free! You can try a five-minute meditation online here.
The most frequent concerns for which our clients seek counselling are anxiety and depression. One in five people will struggle with mental health issues like these during their lifetime. The 2014 Waterloo Region Vital Signs Report tells us that more residents of our community rated their mental health as “fair or poor” than anywhere else in Canada!
