Individual, Couple and Family Counselling

NOTE: During the pandemic we are providing video and phone counselling services.

KW Counselling Services provides professional counselling to individuals, couples, families and groups in a safe, confidential and supportive environment.   Therapeutic counselling is a specialized service that addresses the psychosocial, emotional, behavioural, relational and mental health needs of individuals, couples and families in Waterloo Region.  Therapeutic counselling services are informed by individual and family values and goals with an emphasis on growth, development and change. Counselling services are available for up to eight (8) sessions.

The Agency’s therapeutic counselling service is informed by knowledge of human development across life span, counselling theories, best practices, and rests on the knowledge the psychotherapist/social worker has of safe and effective use of self. The psychotherapist/social worker applies knowledge of a wide variety of presenting concerns and human situations. The psychotherapist/social worker also incorporates into practice knowledge of the community’s environment and resources. The psychotherapist/social worker practices in ways that honour the principles of unconditional positive regard, client right to self-determination, and anti-oppressive practice.
