Volunteer Appreciation Week

posted by Scott Williams

The theme of this year's National Volunteer Week is "Volunteers are Part of the Ripple Effect."

Volunteers make up a large part of the KW Counselling Services family.  We work with many volunteers every week at our Walk In Counselling Clinic (WICC).  Professional therapists and intake workers donate their time to ensure the WICC is sustainable.  Each week we see 45-70 clients at the WICC and this would simply not be possible without the work of our volunteers.

We also rely on volunteers to help with fundraising events.  For example, the team behind Jeans 'n Scrubs is entirely made up of community volunteers who have given of their time, energy and expertise to put on an amazing fundraising event that will benefit KW Counselling Services, Grand River Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital.

Finally, our wonderful Board of Directors is made up of volunteers.  This is a dynamic and energetic group of community members who help to govern and guide our agency.  They work tirelessly to help us raise funds to sustain our work.  They guide us in everything from legal and financial decisions to event planning and facilities management.

As far as we are concerned, every week should be Volunteer Appreciation Week!  To everyone who volunteers with us, please accept our sincere thanks for all that you do.  Without you, it would not be possible for us to serve the community as we do.  Thank you!
